95 Civic EX blows white/grey smoke out the tailpipe and backfires when reved

I just bought this car about 3 days ago and its blowing Whiteish grey smoke out of the tailpipe and the smoke has a strong smell, it also backfires when its reved up. not sure whats going on. please help!:(

Have you inspected all ignition system components?

Any CEL codes?

Stock D16Z6 engine?

Losing coolant?
