I have a 98 honda civic (not sure what model) automatic and the transmission slips after a few seconds of driving and will start moving again after I let sit for a couple of minutes also hesitates before going into second gear. I changed the fluid twice and I changed the thermostat and coolant and it got alittle better but not a lot. No check engine light is on but theirs a whine comming from transmission the car has 181154 miles on it. Someone help

When it goes in reverse or,drive does it,clunk?

When you changed the fluid did you do,a drain and, fill or flush

It doesn't clunk at all and I drained as much as I could out. the torque converter still had old fluid in it. I'm in the process of removing trans so I can replace converter but transmission doesn't want to seperate from engine iv taken all the bolts out.

I don't know what's still holding the tranny and engine together

You may need to use a pry bar between engine and trans bump it with a rubber mallet a couple times aswell I just did a trans swap yesterday
