is it necessary to copper spray a head gasket that is mls? i was told by a couple honda heads that its necessary but told by at least 5 different techs that its not necessary. also my head bolts torque to 49 ft lbs on my 1997 honda civic ex coupe. i have a d16y8 miniswap with a d15b2 block. i am using arp studs and i have read on other forums that they should be torqued to 60 ft lbs over a period of 3-4 runs at oper. temp. that doesnt make sense to mean since the torque is based on the the threads of the aluminum block and what it can hold as a yield awa the bolts themselves.

the copper spray is up to you. I personally copper sprayed my oem headgasket on my singlecam, but then again we dont do it on the race car motors.

if using ARP headstuds, torque them to 75ft lbs using the lube assembly stuff that comes with it. i do mine in the sequence of 25,50,75
