B16 Build

Ok so what i want is to get some power out of the car. it is a em1 B16a2 motor. Current upgrades is a specter SRI, DC Header, RSR muffler (Stock Piping) That is all the performance work that has been done. Just a heads up i am into the clean sound and look. not the type of person that slaps a neon light under the car and a body kit and hits the street. want to know what performance upgrades i can do w/o making it sound ricy. Budget is no problem cause i will save up for whatever i need. it is a daily driver so I'm not wanting to have a 450 HP honda running 20 lbs of boost. New to the Honda Scene as i am 17 but know "enough to be dangerous" Any help will be appreciated.

You're on the right track. Try looking into some head work such as Cams, Valve Spring and Retainers, etc. Maybe a true 2.5" exhaust system with a header that has a 2.5" collector (if your header doesn't already come 2.5") and a new intake manifold.

Well the exhaust is really what makes your car sound bad or ricey.

Other members will be more helpful but if you want more power you can try a camshaft and adjustable cam gears to give you a bit extra.

Yeah it does lol mines pretty loud but it doesn't have that "fart can" sound.

Ok thanks for the quick response. as far as exhaust goes, what brands do you recommend? I don't have any hands on experience and you can only tell so much from youtube. and the cams do brands matter for that or are they basically all the same?

Also with intake manifolds. will a B18 manifold fit a b16? and what is their to look for as far as specs and quality?

a intake manifold and a bigger exhaust wont give you the power you're hoping for..if you want power piece together a turbo kit..you can spend hundreds on little things like cams, intake manifolds, a real nice header, real nice exhaust..and it'll not do anything to what a turbo kit can do for you

I am planning on turning the car, but jus 8-10 lbs of boost. with that low of boost will a 2.5 cutback still be ok? also what mads will need to be added so i don't blow up the motor? i know with high boost you need forged pistons and rods. but what about 8-10 lbs?

if you want to boost, dont focus on how many psi's you want to run because the psi to turbo ratio is different for each set up..it all depends on the size of the turbo..lets say you use a t3/t4 .60 ext, which is a popular choice, 8-10 psi should be fine with stock internals..but i'd just add ARP headstuds to be safe..on my old b16a2 motor i did have ctr pistons but basically i just had ARP headstuds on a stock motor and was at 12 psi and 340 hp with a similar size turbo to the .60 ext turbo..there is a lot to learn before you do go boost though

JDM exhaust (2.5 inch)
JDM Type-R camshafts, valves, retainers, etc.

should be able to get all that for about 2 grand if you shop right and know how to install yourself.
