Considering purchasing a used 2006 civic hybrid sedan - what should I ask?

Hello. I'm trying to find a second car for my heavy day to day driving. I'm a bit terrified of dealing with failing expensive batteries out of warranty. I'm looking at a local Honda Civic Hybrid 2006 with 90,000 miles on it. They want 7,000$ What kind of questions should I ask the dealer? Is this even a good idea or should I stick with a purely mechanical model? I know my way around a car engine but I've never worked with a hybrid before.

If diving into a used hybrid scares you, then a simple naturally aspirated should give you some confidence..

As the civic has put on weight, I would look to a Fit if you want some MPG's
