Anyone ever manage to do this in a OEM manner on a 6th gen coupe?
I have a HX with a viper 4 button alarm system, and I really want to get this to work.
The 6th gen latch:
The factory civic trunk latch has the keyswitch in the trunk lid or the remote cable release.
The part number is:
74851-S01-A01 (#8 on the diagram)

I believe this latch is standard across all 6th gen civics. As you can see, the cable enters the latch from the left hand side of the vehicle.
Notice the mounting. 3 holes in a triangle pattern.
Next I did some googling, and found this: 7th gen install how-to
At first glance, this was exactly what I was looking for. Don' be fooled though.
The 7th gen latch:
2-door
The part number is:
74851-S5A-A02 (#11 on the diagram)

There are also 3 other latches on the diagram (12, 41, and 52) which are not listed. I am not sure what these do or if these are electric. Maybe a 7th gen owner can give input if 7th gens ever came with factory electric release.
4-door
Only 2 latches shown on this diagram (12 and 13). 12 is part number 74851-S5A-A02, the same as the 2-door part. 13 is not listed.

Notice that the mounting is different. There are 2 holes diagonally across from each other.
From this, I went to the 6th gen accord (98-01)
The 6th Gen Accord Latch
This latch mounts the same way as the 7th gen civic (as shown by the write up). There are 2 holes that are diagonally opposite each other. I went and bought a used latch from a junk yard, to see if it would work in the civic. Notice the cable enters from the top on the left hand side, not the left. This was ok in the write up, as the cable had extra slack to account for this. The same would be true in a 6th gen, but the latch will not mount up. The lockrod attachment will not fit through the hole into the trunk (it is .5 inches too low), the bolt holes do not line up, and the larger mounting bracket (especially the 2001 model with the trunk release lever) will not fit within the sheet metal of the civics trunklid.
The Part Number is:
74851-S84-A41 (#12 on the diagram)

#49 on the diagram (74851-S84-A11) fits the 2001 VP model, which apparently did not get the automatic release.
The 5th Gen Accord Latch
I looked at the 96 accord (94-97) to see if it came with the optional electric trunk release. From what I can see, It was not optional.
The Part Number is:
74851-SV1-003 (#14 on the diagram)

This latch looks like it mounts in a completely different way than the 6th gen civic latch. It seems to mount through a hole in the trunk lid, and not from behind. There isn't a rubbery sleeve to protect the latch as shown in the other diagrams.

My buddy has a s2000, but I havent had a chance to look at that one yet. It seems from Majestic's diagrams that it is completely straight and not bent at all (so will not even come close to fitting).

Looks like the 5th gen was not offered with a electric trunk release? I cannot tell from the picture. There is a second latch that is shown (44) but not listed below. Can anyone confirm if the prelude was offered with this feature?

Would think this would be the best shot, since alot of parts are shared between the 6th gen civic and the 3rd gen integras. Would have to be a 4 door though to have a trunk I would think.

This latch looks like the civic latch from what I can see, with 3 mounting holes in a triangle. I am unsure what is different in order to account for the new part number

yep, looking up for the 2001 car you get no #9 listed but #40 is listed.

So, has anyone successfully done this before? Can anyone shed insight/photos of above parts (minus the 6th gen civic and accord parts, I will post those shortly if people are interested)?
Here are the photos of what I have so far:
Stock latch (74851-S01-A01) on my trunk (looking towards rear of car if the trunk is closed) You can see the rubber cover has been removed, and this shows the mechanism and the trunk-light switch connection.
Here is where the other end of the lock-rod connects with the keyswitch in the trunk.
If I fail at finding a easy solution to get the actuator onto the latch itself, it would be possible to add the actuator somewhere on this and push on the lockrod, but this would not be as strong a design due to relying on more parts to work.
6th Gen accord latch from a 2001 EX (74851-S84-A41) with the rubber cover removed to show the latch mechanism
Here is a close-up of the workings of the latch mechanism with the actuator and emergency escape lever removed. You can see the mounting holes are different, and if you compare the latches side-by-side it is easy to see that the lock rod lever (gold piece) is about .5 inches closer to the striker position on this latch than on the stock civic latch. This makes it impossible to install properly without first cutting the trunk, which I want to avoid. Also, I believe the accord striker has a larger diameter than the civic striker, since the hole in the catch is larger.
Here are the 2 rubber covers for the latches. Accord on left, Civic on right
Here is the accord actuator removed from the latch assembly. The above arm of the lever is the emergency escape, the left arm is what the trunk release cable (from next to the driver seat) attaches to, and the bottom arm of the lever presses on the latch to release the catch.
