Ive replaced 3 motors in 7th gen civics, they seem to like to throw main or big end bearings. $500 for a used engine already pulled with warranty from a wrecker, $150ish clutch kit off ebay, $150ish timing belt and water pump off ebay, coolant, belts, mtf, oil change... Thats like $900. Most civics still have fuel and brake lines in pristine shape so go to a pick it yourself wrecker and maybe $100 youll have it. Why do you need to replace the whole fuel system? And whats up with the brake lines? Hows the tire tread? How are the brakes and rotors? How many km on the body? Anything else wrong? Head gasket is still fine? They are common to go. Looks to me like $1500. Figure out what your time is worth to you and check kijiji and craigslist to see what similar ones are goin for.

Much easier to install a k series than it is to go backwards and install a b series

Never just guess or assume anything when it comes to repairs. It leaves you open for avoidable mistakes that could lead to more costly repairs. Make sure to thoroughly check the car, even if you trust your friend. You should be well aware of the project your buying.
