Engine Bay Electric component Problem

I had to go move my car this morning, started it up as usual, but when I turned it off some noise was coming from under the hood like an electric motor that just wouldn't shut off. I think it's just running until it overheats because it is making a terrible smell around my car, the only motor I could think of would be the starter motor but wouldn't that be making the engine try to turn over? Any thought she or advice much appreciated in new to civics

Possibly one of the fans. Take the next logical step. Open the hood and look/listen/smell where the noise/smell is coming from. Post a pic.
It turned out to be the starter shorted out and wouldn't cut off after the engine started. No grinding or anything just free spinning, it ended up melting the starters internals and needs to be replaced but other than that, it's my understanding that everything is fine
