Got my civic with an engine swap

I just got my 1998 Honda civic dx got it off some girl that had no clue about it she said she had a engine swap done on it and had no clue on the miles or what it came out of is there a way to trace it back to the original car the stamp say d16y7 2637240 any help would be great

D16Y7 is the correct motor for that car. It could be swapped with an identical motor, or it could just have a head swap done. There really isn't a way to determine the origins of that motor unless there's a VIN stamp on there somewhere (such as on the transmission). If that VIN stamp doesn't match the VIN of your car, you can look at some carfax report of the VIN provided and see where it came from. It might point you in the right direction, but mileage will be a guest at best.
