Help with replacing the antenna

I am in progress with replacing the antenna on my 1996 Honda Civic. It seems like it should be so simple except for the fact that I took the old one out before realizing that you needed to tie a string to it because the hole for it at the bottom is next to impossible to find. Is anyone able to give me a detailed description of where I need to feed a string up into to get the new cord in correctly? I have been digging around for a few hours with no luck.

Just take off the driver side A-pillar since you forgot the string (it's easy) and I think you can see the hole. If not, use a wire hangar or something similar to fish a string through from antenna hole to the driver A-pillar side where the trim is removed. If you can't do that then partial remove the headliner, it's not that hard. Just remove the driver side vanity mirror and you should be able to pull it down enough to do what you need. Just don't pull the headliner to much or it will crease it and leave a line.
