Lost key 1996 civic

Hi I bought this car without a key and was told i could goto the dealership and get a new key by giving them my vin number and very cheap.
I'm in the Austin tx area, does anybody know if this is true

That sounds super sketch.... but in Canada if you bring the ownership they will cut you a new key by vin.

It's true. I got a vin cut key from the dealer for $10. Must show proof of ownership. Aka your id and title with your name or insurance.
