obd2 port wont read?

I have a check engine light on and a missfire i plug in the scanner turn my key on and nothing. Even tried with the car running.

Do you have an OBDII ECU?

Pull the CEL codes using the jumper wire method.

I had a obdII scanner going on the fritz. It would read some vehicles, but not others. Try a different scanner if you have one available.

The OBDII port on the OP's Civic won't work if the B18c1 engine swap involved conversion to an OBDI ECU.
