its always fun naming your thread "official"
anyways, this is basically what i posted on H-T, because they got a pretty extensive photography forum from what ive seen...cant be sure what kind of response i'll get there, sooo, i'll post it up here, and at least the 3 or 4 of us ( ) that post in here regularly can maybe talk it out amongst ourselves....
----------------------
I've been looking for any good tutorials, or how-to's, or just good discussions on certain types of post-edit procedures....I dont know if i'd call it "dramatic", or what - i think the best (or at least i hope its the best) way to describe the effect would be that the image almost seems over sharpened, over contrasted, or over saturated....but not
Is that making any sense? something, for instance, that just popped into mind was some of the pics that Devin LeFevere has taken...i know a good portion of that is good lighting...but it cant ALL be attributed to good lighting....
I realize that this could be likened to asking a magician how he does his tricks, but everyone learns somewhere, somehow, from someone...ive been looking through tutorials, and im tired of reading "how to change my rims", "can you lower my car", or "look, i changed my background to black & white"....
I cant be the only one wondering about this - or could i? i do the basic stuff during post editing, but i'd like to step it up a notch, and am really just looking for some guidance and direction on either what to do, or at least where to look for help...
sooooo, yeah, discuss?
----------------------
so, anyone else feel like i do, or even know what im talking about?

With this one, i've noticed that you can get some better results without desaturating the image. You can skip that step and be fine.

After taking a few pics in RAW formart, I came to the conclusion that Photoshop is "supposed" to support the .cr2 format from the Nikon/Canon digital cameras. So, I found this from Adobe. Lets you actually open up cr2 formatted files.
