overcharging alternator

Ok.. I have a 99 lx.. d16y7.. previous owner said he placed the alternator twice in a few months.. what's causing the stress on it?

What's the voltage across the battery posts with the engine off, idling, or idling with the headlights, blower, and A/C on? Is the dash charge light on? Does the battery smell like rotten eggs?

Battery is almost 13v off... new battery new alternator.. but previous owner ate through 2 and this one is over charging.. I heard it could be a ground

Is the voltage higher than 15V across the battery posts with the engine idling?

could be the internal regulator screwing up. I had that happen with a gay remanned alternator from autozone
