Question for an odd problem 07 Civic EX

I have a 07 Civic EX 5 speed that has just recently this fall(now that the weather is getting cold) started making a low growl type noise when I start it up in cold weather. I let the car warm up until it goes away but one odd thing about it is that if I shift it into gear and start moving forward it completely goes away, warm or not. The colder it gets the rougher it is seemingly becoming. I just changed the oil(with the standard oil type from the manual) about 3 weeks ago, plugs about 10000 miles ago and have no check engine lights on. What could cause a loud cold start up noise that goes away once the engine warms or shifted into gear and accelerating? Adding to that if I do start driving before its fully warmed up and I let my foot off the gas in a lower gear, when the car starts to decelerate, I also hear a low type growl noise as I slow down. I dont know if I should be looking at the engine or the transmission, or both. I appreciate any help.
