Reference: HIDs: Answers, Specs, And More

Well, I installed the HIDs in my stock housings, using adapters from HIDEXPERT.com. Needless to say, it is definitely easier to see at night (Left my shop last night about 11:30-12:00am after putting them in..)..

Issues:
- Ghosts, obviously.. I assume due to no projector lenses right now
- One of the adapters wasn't machined properly, thus requiring the use of a Dremel and sanding drum to open the area up a little for the bulb to flush-fit..

So I'll be working on retro-ing my spare housings to fir the projectors, then transfer the HIDs over...

Oh, EK9.. I had a brainfart, so disregard the wiring question..

DUH.. German cars.. brown = ground, yellow = positive..

hehe okay , good to know, make sure to make a heavey duty wiring harness, if you do not want to or take time to make one, i have several for sale.

H4 with relay and fuse and nice thick gague wires... let me know .. if not you can make one.. it's not too hard ;D

sorry to hear you had to ground yours a bit, mine were perfect from teh go, i guess a machining error no one cared to notice before shipping them out.

It wasn't much, like .065" or so, all around.. Only took me a couple of minutes to mod.. Other than that, was a walk in the park. I think I spent a total of 20 minutes, wiring the relays, mounting the ballasts, and installing everything.. Just need to tidy up the wiring with loop and ties..

Just don't forget to adjust your head lights a bit, i think i'm going to start working on my retro some this weekend, still stuck on the left headlamp, due to i got to find a way to smooth out the housing some.

i have the 12k on my evo and i never once had a problem with people flashing me cause im blinding them and i never once had a problem with the cops..

i mean to each his own but i think anything under 6k is crap.. to white nothing to say OOH thats coo or watever.. i mean HID r nice u see more and makes ur car look nice.. but with no color u blind ppl more than 8k or 12k HID do.. my cousin owns a 2005 TL and he has OEM HID which is eh 4100/4300 (OEM) He blinds the hell outa me when he is behind me now when i drove his car and he was behind me with my car and i have 12k remember i wasnt blinded at all and i have my light pointing pretty high but not to high... 8k it just blue and nasty 6k is ok i guess 12k is a nice color in my own opinion anything above 12k except 12k u just want attention from everyone and u need to get shoot. So i love my 12k and ima keep 12k but if u like something else well thats u. but i think OEM blinds more than a high k. But u can also see more with OEM but i live in SoCal there is plenty of light everywhere so i dont really need a brighter set 12k does the job.

hey thats a good point. since the higher kelvins are dimmer, it prolly just looks about like halogen in terms of glare. what color is that anyway?purple?

12k is like purple/blue. Here some pictures of my car and the HID

Well we never argued that HID Kit + HID Equiped Projectors = bad

HID Kit + Halogen housing = bad
HID Kit + Halogen Projector = bad

I, nor anyone said HID Kit + HID Equiped Projectors = bad

why TL was blinding you was the flicker, but your stock 4100K back on your EVO, it'll do the same...

12000K will not, cuz of less lumes; but hey it's your choice and yea cali nights are same as days; lights everywhere....

not really, just for comsmetic looks, but clear lense will help the output and cut off color a lot better

Honestly, I have a set of PIAA Super Whites that I just put in, cost me 55 bucks on ebay shipped, and I was rollin next to some diff cars on the freeway the other night that had HID's, and in some cases mine were JUST as bright, if you have noticed some of the Toyota Prius' have HID kits from the factory in halogen housing, and they look no diff in brightness side by side with me rollin on the freeway, besides maybe color a bit. Next to BMW's and Audi's I can see a diff, but with all the effects that HID's have reflecting EVERYWHERE on earth in stock housing it would not be worth the 400 bucks it would cost to do, even if it were 300 still think I'm better off this way. Just my two cents

The Prius has HID's in HID reflector housings...not halogen. I dont know where you've seen HID's last but you can get a decent HID kit nowadays for $134 shipped. You could even do a retro if you wanted for the look of OEM but the output of HID projectors.

haha! are you serious? your riced out piaas with blue tint puts out maybe 800 lumen per bulb if you are lucky! guess how much a single oem hid bulb puts out, 3400 lumen. yeah thats what i thought

haha that's what i was going to say...the "tint" might look "similiar" but you can not compare regular halogen to hid system
