Replacing ball joints, what else?

I've got a 1991 Civic DX hatchback. I need to replace the ball joints and am wondering what else should be/would be beneficial to replace at the same time?

On a side note, the person I bought the car from had installed a lowering kit. I'm curious what it entails to remove/possible lift, as I'm a big guy with no use for lowered car. Especially with the catastrophic pot holes in the city I live in.. Haha Thanks for any help offered!

"lowering kit" is way too broad. Are you talking about coilovers? lowering springs? hydraulics?
As for other things to change, you could lift up your car and see what other bushings look like they need replacing.
