Speedometer

So my 96 civic DX with a dead speedo and odometer was throwing code ps0501 the vss. Replaced it(eBay). Still dead gauge. And same codes being thrown again. All the pigtails seem fine. I pulled the gauge out the cluster. Thinking I need a new gauge it self causing this headache. Anyone successfully found a cure for this seemingly common problem?

Is the eBay part oem? With electronics consider going oem Honda. If the original speed sensor is oem clean that up and put it back in and see if that helps. Clear the light, drive around, should work.

Did you confirm your harness is not corroded and making solid contact at the pins? What brand speed sensor did you purchase?
