The joys of long exposure! :-)

Hey guys,

I went out to East Grinstead yesterday evening, and found a nice plot for some pictures. Only problem was, it was in the middle of no where, it was pitch black, no street lights, nothing!

Just to show ya how dark it was, heres a picture with the flash on!

Now here are some of the pictures I took with a 10 second exposure, I am stunned by the results considering this was pitch black at about 7pm!

The glowing from the car is the interior light and you can guess what the light trails are on the road.

Sorry they are so small, reason being its kinda hard to focus when ya cant see the picture your taking :P So had to shrink them so you can see the blur =)

Enjoy!

I can have a longer exposure if I wanted , but it would of been too bright.

I have a Canon EOS-350D (aka Digital Rebel XT).

I'm well chuffed, I was only mucking about aswell, thinking they would be too dark :P

Thanks dude, but I cant blow them up! Cos they are way out of focus, hence the reason I shrunk them down.

Will be doing it again soon, so will make sure they are better. As I said its hard to focus on pitch black, u just have to guess :P

They are out of focus and blurry because you had such a long exposure time....

Its one of the hardships of long exposures... You gotta find the right equilibrium.... ;)

there is no joy to overexposure.
they leave images oversaturated and cartoonish.

so do i, and you have a longer max exposure than 30seconds bro

go to the last setting where it just says "bulb", from there the only limit to how long of exposure you can use is how long your battery will last.......... but with these 350d's and their AWESOME battery life, that shouldnt be a problem

i can take well over 1200 pics at full quality on one charge, and it recharges fully in under 45 minutes....
