Weird sound from engine 2000 civic hatchy

After a long drive on Friday running at around 100km/h (im in canada)...I drove out on Saturday and then heard this sound coming from my engine area, and sounded like it came from the bottom area of it.

I'm able to make the sound come out when I hit a certain rpm thats a bit above idle and it disappears when I rev high. Its an automatic civic, and I put it in neutral and park, revved to the same rpm and it still made the sound...

So I'm guessing its not the transmission? What could it be? Any thoughts?

D16Y7 engine, everything stock.

agreed with the above posts, mine came loose and did the same thing. If its a tinny type metal noise that could be what it is, Jack up your car and have someone rev it while someone else looks under the car for the noise

best of luck

metallic mid-high pitch kinda sound. ever heard a wood pecker peck metal? its like that cept a bit higher pitched. My friend's friend also said it could be heat shield, just wondering if theres any other possibilities for other things. It doesn't sound like OMG ITS DYING kinda sound. More of a rattle/rasping sound.
