What is the best wheel size for a 1997 Honda Civic DX 2-door coupe?

I currently have 18-inch wheels with Falken tires on my 1997 Honda Civic DX and I spent a pretty penny to get them. I have been wondering if I am doing harm to my engine and or crank due to the high size of wheels and tires. I have been thinking about switching to a 15-inch wheel and tire to get a performance boost, what are your thoughts?

gosh man get those 18s off, too big for a civic... like death says 15s or 16s, but i would prefer 15s nothing bigger

Not like if it matters but the wheels you have on just throw off the speedo. Like everyone else mentioned get 15s.

there is no best wheel size, i think it depends on the style of the wheel but I would agree either 15 or 16

16" is the biggest for ur year. And I think 16's look the best IMO

I appreciate the replies, I will do some checking around to see if maybe I can get the shop to trade me out of the wheels and tires I have for a 15-inch wheel and tire set or and get back on a post. Thanks.

15"s for the win. Those 18"s are pretty heavy i guessing which will wear out your hub bearings prematurely.

15's with 195/50's (I know they're one size smaller but they handle great!)
