I have a 1994 honda civic ex. It needs some body work but it's in good shape
. I am wanting to put some money in it but it's an automatic... So what should I do? I'm thinking about trying to find one with a 5 speed and switch. Any suggestions?

It would help if you explained how you want to spend money on it and what your goals are. If performance is your goal then a manual transmission is a must. Use the search function and you'll learn plenty.

Sell it and buy a stock manual. Old Civics are a dime a dozen.
Quality is meh depending on where you are though. Up here in Rochester, most older Civic's have rust. Very difficult to actually find one rust free. And if you can find one, they're a bit more pricey. You're looking at $1k just for a shell.

Not sure how Ohio compares to Rochester, but the OP could still avoid some work and save some money by selling current rusty auto Civic and buying a rusty manual Civic. :P
Touché, sir, touché.
