Am I missing something here?
We've just purchased a 2003 Honda Civic and have change the timing belt as a precaution and for peace of mind.
What has struck me as Odd is the fact that there is this Large opening into the back of the engine from both wheel wells!
The liner that protects the "Arc" of the wheel well is there, but I am stunned that such a large opening exists on the engine compartment side of BOTH wheel wells. To my way of thinking there is no way there should be that much of an opening that would allow water, mud, etc, etc to get up in the back of the engine like that.
Driver Side:
Passenger side:
I've inquired about possible missing liner pieces, but the only thing I can find it the liner for covering the 'Arc' of the wheel well.
Is this right - is there no covering that should limit splash to the back of the engine?
Thanks for the help.
