WIll a 1999 Civic AC system work for a 1992 LX?

My AC doesn't work in my 1992 Civic, and a friend of mine is about to get rid of his 99 Civic. He said he would give me the AC system if it worked for my car, but I don't know if it will. Since they are similiar bodys and engines will the AC system from the 99 just bolt right on or no? Specifically the compressor, because I think that is what the problem is with my current AC system. I believe that the compressor should fit because they are both d-series but you need to diagnose the actual problem first. You shouldn't have to switch out the rest of the system.
