Wont rev past 5,500 rpm

Hey guys. i have a d16y8 and it doesn't pass more than 5.500 rpm. the speed sensor is new and it has a virgin po6. can someone tell me why doesn't pass more than that?

What do you drive? A D16Y8 engine belongs to 6th gen. Civic EXs and you posted in the 5th gen. section. If you performed an engine swap then let us know the details and state if you used the corresponding ECU or converted to OBD1 or other. Don't assume everyone will know what was done.

Is manual and when im parked and when its running like it wont pass more than that

P06 won't run a y8 motor properly.
Do you have a CEL on?

Yep, ECU is the cause here. A P06 is non-vtec. The D16Y8 has Vtec. So the ECU doesn't know wtf to do when you hit 5500 rpm, which is roughly when Vtec kicks in.
