i am smoking from my exhast... i pretty sure that it's my piston rings.. i went to a mechanic today and i was told that if its the rings i am better off rebuilding my engine. is this true? i am going to do a compression test soon.. does anyone know of a link that should the readings for a B18C1.. any help is appreciated.

well it could be your valve seals that are letting the oil into your cylinders. That would be a much cheaper fix. Have you already checked to see if it was those first?

I would check valve seals and head gasket before the rings. do a compression and leak down test and let us know your comp numbers, etc...

can any one tell me what these numbers mean?

i seem to be smoking alot less but the strong smell of oil is present. i check my oil and my levels are ok.. i changed my spark plugs.. can someone lead in the right direction thanks
.
