Engine takes along time to heat up good or bad???

Visually inspect the thermostat, and see if it's stuck in open position. Might need to replace

    D16Y7 - Any good?

That was a joke...sorry xD She's a new driver, but is very careful and intelligent about it. Would this car be something that's relatively maintenance free other than scheduled tune up and oil fills? Or is this model prone to falling apart?

    D16Y7 - Any good?

Clean title, no accidents in carfax report, no rust anywhere. The only rust is on the exhaust manifold, which, being cast iron, will always get. Only 1 owner before this one. Good maintenance track. KBB puts it at 8k if bought from a dealer. My gf is going to be drag racing with it.

    D16Y7 - Any good?

I'm thinking of getting another civic for my girlfriend. This one has a non-vtec D16Y7. It's '00 LX trim. It only has 49,000 miles, is automatic, and does not have any apparent mechanical defects. Owner is selling it for 3.5k, which is a steal in my book. Thoughts?

    Slowing down before shifting

Yep, as time flies, shifting becomes smoother and smoother, and after about 10-15 minutes of driving, it becomes seamless. Sure hope that's all it is. :]

    Slowing down before shifting

I'm not sure what you mean by level, level of the fluid? Looks dead on the top marker, which is ideal. It shifts seamlessly warmed up too.

    Slowing down before shifting

Yeah, the color of the fluid is great and it smells healthy (no burning smell, fresh transparent dark pink)

    Slowing down before shifting

Not sure what that looks like, how easy it is to access, or how it looks :[

    Slowing down before shifting

Checked, valve (butterfly?) does not stick, and is in a clean condition.

    Slowing down before shifting

Yes sir, typically at higher RPMs it's less noticeable. At low RPM's it slows down for a second before shifting. Barely noticeable, but I'm very aware of things in general.

    Slowing down before shifting

My automatic '00 LX slows down before shifting gears 1-3, could be normal I suppose. The issue diminishes, and eventually disappears after the car has warmed. It only has 79k miles, so I doubt it's a mechanical issue. No weird sounds or clicks during regular shifting. Thoughts?

    Probably nothing, but...(possible overheating?)

Yes, I hit several deep puddles on the road, so deep that they splashed on my windshield. Cool, thanks for the info

    Probably nothing, but...(possible overheating?)

Also curious - how hot do these engines typically run? My mom's 2.3L '04 Suzuki Aerio seems a lot cooler. No temp gauge, so really hard to tell. Oh and, no smoke or steam comes out of exhaust unless it's under 40F outside.

    Probably nothing, but...(possible overheating?)

Evening, I drive a recently purchased '00 Civic LX. Only 79k on the odo. (paid $4,800 at the dealer.) My temp gauge generally stays below half-way. I noticed last night, after driving for about 15 minutes on a highway, that front grill was steaming. My friend told me that was normal...

    '00 LX Exhaust Manifold (cracked?)

Welded over the crack with bronze, and replaced the o2 sensor - superb performance increase, idle is smooth and the vibration is gone. Oh, ECU light is gone too! WOOT! I do realize that exhaust man weld is a temp. fix, so I'll probably order something for it. <3 my civique.

    '00 LX Exhaust Manifold (cracked?)

Alright, thank you for the info, kind sirs. What do you think about this replacement kit? ATP Part # 101122 {#18160P2EA10, M327221} Includes Necessary Hardware Mtg Kit Contains 1 Manifold Gasket, 1 Dump Gasket, 2 Bolts, 3 Studs, 3 Washers, 3 Nuts except Calif emissions; w/Integral...

    '00 LX Exhaust Manifold (cracked?)

@DaOne How easy is it to fix? Everywhere I checked they say I'll require a new kit because the cat is bolted into the manifold. That's 200-700 smacks :[ Can anything be done weld-wise?

    '00 LX Exhaust Manifold (cracked?)

I just sprayed some WD40 on the sensor in order to easier remove it, so that's where the spots are from.
