i would offer 1500. It says rebuilt engine. Ask if it just had rings and bearings replaced or did they bore it out with new pistons and the whole nine yards. Find out how many miles on the transmission. Does it have any grinds and most importantly , when were clutch and timing belt done.

you can get the trouble codes to pinpoint the problem. If it is OBD1 , use the green connector under glove box.

buy a multimeter, they are only 20 bucks. Every week or so put one end on red terminal of alternator and another on chassis ground and you should have 14.4 volts. So if it starts getting below this then buy an new alternator. You won't suddenly have non-functioning alternator unless belt...

the engine code on hondas are stamped on the front part of the block just below valve cover on the left side.

it's the 2 wire connector, use a piece of cut wire instead of a paper clip.

do you have all your engine grounds in place; valve cover to chassis, thermostat housing to chassis?

that is the engine code, the head code is usually between one of the exhaust ports
