I use teflon tape on every thread that has fluid passing through it. As for the rest of your post, I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say but I seriously doubt not having teflon tape is going to ruin any threads. It's just going to let fluid leak easier.

Yes he should port and shim. Y8 oil pumps don't provide enough pressure or flow for turbo'd engines. BUT also use a restrictor since you don't want to blow the seals.

80+psi at 3000k+ RPM is a good pressure to be at. You should get a restrictor if you have a -4AN or bigger feed line.
