What are you doing / did you do today / CHAT THREAD

a manual civic sport will sip gas. My friend gets 40+ mpg highway. I'd find a MK7 GTI if you can swing it and sacrifice some gas mileage

Ceramic coated the winter wheels and picked up some 17s for the spring.

    B16b build

200 at the wheels? That's not happening with $2.5k. If your d16y8 is healthy you could get into that range and have room to expand with a used turbo setup.

you're kinda diving into the deep end. I'd sell that block and save up for a b18 / b16 full swap.

Weak AND Sluggish in the Heat

There's little to no aftermarket support available for the DX engine, in my opinion, due to the K series engines being the benchmark for 2006 and newer Honda/ Acura 4 cylinders. Likely, the swap would run more than what the car is worth. That's why I asked about the condition.

"The Mothership" - 1998 Civic - Maintenance Log

Is the pulsing only under braking or all the time? Does it sound like anything is dragging under acceleration or while coasting? The R brakes are a bolt on for the EX spindles. No adapters or machining needed. The mini cooper uses the same size rotor as an ITR, but 4x100 instead of 5x114. I...

Weak AND Sluggish in the Heat

a K20 or K24 swap would be the way to go. Unless your DX is in showroom floor condition, I'd be inclined to search for an 8th gen civic si and sell the DX. Might be worth a test drive.

"The Mothership" - 1998 Civic - Maintenance Log

Did you say you put on front brakes not too long ago? What did you replace then? Wouldn't be a bad time to make a little upgrade. Type R remans are dirt cheap and no core charge. Pair these with base mini cooper rotors and TSX pads. Rock Auto PowerStop S1460

Weak AND Sluggish in the Heat

Are you running the air conditioning? Try leaving it off until you're up to cruising speed. Any bolt on parts would just be noise makers. You can't make power without forced induction or an engine swap on your platform.

    Starting build

I probably wouldn't modify it. If you're Honda faithful and want a more receptive platform get a 6 speed 1.5T Civic. You can make some pretty significant power with bolt ons and Hondata FlashPro. As far as I know, Honda doesn't have a method for flagging an ecu so you would likely be safe...

Are you planning on asking your dealership for "measurements and proprietary data needed to swap a K20C2 engine into a 1996 civic sedan" ? They are going to tell you to take a hike before you can finish the sentence. You need to determine if you have the budget, tools, garage space, secondary...
