    Brak's 98 EX

K24's are cheap and readily available. Most of the "unwanted" K series Accord, Element, etc can all be used reliably with a oil pump swap.

Grinding Gears, use to be 3rd, but moved to 2nd

Worn out synchro's. When the clutch was extensively worn it was allowing extra "play" which was possibly helping with slipping the gear in. Now with proper clutch engagement you are revealing how worn how the synchronizers are.

    Distributor recommendations

Once you get it open, you will know what needs to be replaced. The latch is pretty simple and mostly metal parts with a cable. Your local junkyard has them a dime a dozen Im sure, maybe it is a 88-91 now that I see that.

    Distributor recommendations

First, fix the hood latch. Then check for spark to see if you are getting spark to start off with. That will tell you a lot of things then you can diagnose from there. It could just be fouled spark plugs. Its actually common to get oil in the spark plug tubes due to old valve cover gaskets. But...

    Advice on buying

Fun car will be the gas engine, the diesel that Honda produced was not made for performance driving. The diesel is a pure economy option. K Swaps are getting cheaper and cheaper to perform as there are plenty of salvage donor vehicles to choose from.

    Charging Issue, Need help

Not really a common thing at 100k. To check continuity you are simply putting the probe at one end of a circuit and the probe at the other end. You want near 0 resistance OR exactly or close to the specified resistance in the service manual. Since it's a 6th gen Civic you can find the ECU's in...

    Charging Issue, Need help

Continuity means resistance. If there is high resistance or absolute resistance in a circuit then that means there no continuity in the circuit. A good circuit should have low to resistance or good continuity.

    Charging Issue, Need help

Test those circuits for continuity or if you have spare good known ECU, swap it in and see if it resolves the issue. If issue persists with GK-ecu then go back and double check continuity.

    Main Bearing Replacement Y7

Usually you can use the old bearing to spin the top bearing out. You can only force it out one way as there is a "tab ear" used for alignment. Depending on the bearing wear you may need to have the crankshaft micro polished and this WILL require a thicker bearing. Thus requiring you to at...

    Charging Issue, Need help

Sounds like the alternator has died. But also check the alternator belt to ensure its not missing or worn so badly that its not properly driving the alternator. If this is all tight then I would recommend removing the alternator and taking it to your local auto parts store like Orielly's...
