To me it sounds like warped rotors and brake pads that have been glazed. I think the previous owner may have been hauling some A** and rode his brakes. From what I can hear in the recording its only when you hit your brakes.

I think red material on the doors and arm rest look awesome if you have red seats in it... IMO

Yea thats what they are.. adjustable coilover springs. I have something similar on my EM1. I think they allow you to drop as low as 4 inches. I had to raise mine back up b/c I lost my front lip due to tire pieces on the interstate.I love the slammed look but its not ethical for a DD.
