Can you update the year.
If you are referring to the ECU or engine control unit then yes you can swap them out from an identical Civic as yours. You want to ensure its also the same transmission type.
Newer Civics I don't think you can as it has the immobilizer built in with the key. My details are a little fuzzy that bit, so not 100%.
