2000 Honda Civic Si mods

I’m looking to put some more power into my new 2000 Honda Civic Si with 144k miles. it’s completely stock engine and I want to build on a budget however I don’t want to go super cheap on anything. I would like to turbo it and have 300 hp or close to it. Not looking to turn it into a crazy race car just something more fast and fun that will last me for a while. any suggestions would be very helpful if there’s anything I need to do prior to adding the turbo or what kind brand of turbo it, additions to the engine etc etc. (Fairly new to modding cars) Thank you!

Motor is healthy no knocks or anything probably around a 2-4K budget

I would do basic maintenance items first on the motor, check to be sure there are no leaks, burning excessive oil, and do timing belt and water pump on it. Has the clutch ever been changed?
No point into dumping money into it if these things are not in check...
