Autos are voodoo, but manuals are easy, just intimidating to look at the first time. I learned on my old '97 Integra. Just have a Helms manual, then grab onto one of the gear shafts and pull firmly... When half your transmission parts go flying across the garage, the resulting panic and desperation really motivates you to learn how to put it all back together. Worked great for me! It's actually pretty logical, and many other manual transmissions are built similarly to Honda's. There can be some precise measurements and Speed Test shims, though, depending on what you're doing.
