95 Civic EX VTECH - CrankShaft Pin Broke

Hi Again ..

Guys..

Looks like i got no luck with Civic.. i recently bought 95 Civic Ex and the very first day i drove and heard a big rattlin noise comin frm the engine .immediately had to stop and saw the pulley wobbling .. got the car towed to mechanic ;( .. he tells me the pin that holds the pully on the Crankshaft broke and ate up some threading..

Any suggestion ....i know new crank is costly..

Havent driven that car even 10 miles..

see if you can use a Helicoil to repair the threds, ask your mechanic. You could also drill and tap new threds.

It's called a metal key. Post clear pictures of the key slot and crankshaft threads. If the damage is severe, the crankshaft will need to be replaced.

@ CGP - Yeah i drove the car ..it sucks ! ill try and get the pics the mechanic says hes going to re-theread and weld the key ..
