I did a rear disc swap on my 96 civic lx. But a friend of mines told me i dont have to swap out the proportion valve. He said all i gotta do is bleed the system out.

Do i really need a proportion valve for my brakes to work?

You need the purpotion vale because the brake cilinders of drums needs a restand pressure because otherwise the brake cilinders of the drum brakes will be leaking.
On the otherhand disc brakes dont need restand pressure otherwise the brake pad will be pushed against the rotors by the restand pressure.
