air intake

I have read most of the articles about cold air intakes and but im still a a novive when it comes to ram air and so on..
My first question is ..i got a 94 civic sedan b16 16li,,,,what is that holder connected to my air box (water trap)and what will happen if i remove it! ,,,will thi cause a better airflow and should i do this if i buy a better air filter ,,something like a sport high power filter

not sure what it's for, but it won't adversely affect your car if you pull it out....... actually, if you get a cai, you may have to remove it to make the intake fit.
