This past weekend at the NCCBMWCCA event a few friends asked if I could take a run in the cars for a baseline and for them to learn. The exciting ones were in a 2010 Audi R8 V10 and the other a 1998 supercharged M3 with coilovers, track pads and worn out but decent r-comps.

The R8 was exciting, obviously lol. I took the very first run out on it so needless to say, it was not as good as it could have been. I've ridden in this car before and at the time I felt the car had incredible stopping power. This was the first run in the car so the brakes were cold. Which I did not expect the brakes to be that "weak" when I took the run. I found the car was doing poorly under braking and I would have to stomp on the brakes and even then the abs would BARELY do anything. The tires were also a limiting factor. But the car is a blast that's for sure. Surprisingly it doesn't feel as big as it is. Car is very stable and power comes on strong easily enough to kick the rear end out but controllably. I know with another run on hot brakes, I could have pulled out a MUCH better time. My run seemed to have helped the owner as he dropped a ton of time of the course of his runs.

The M3 was awesome. My friend had taken a couple of runs before he asked me to jump in so the tires and brakes were warm and ready. Car dove into turns real hard due to the brakes having such a hard bite. Lateral grip was pretty good even for dead r-comps. Exiting was strong thanks to the supercharger. First time I've really thrown around an e36 M3 and I'll be doing it again in another one(non-supercharge, on street tires but good suspension) in about a month for competition runs so I can't wait to do it again. Car owner was impressed and gave me a high five after the run because I beat his previous runs in my first time driving the car and on his subsequent runs he still was not able to beat my only run.

And of course I ran my civic. Which I was the fastest in but I also got more runs in it. If I were to take a couple more runs in the M3 I would have easily been a lot faster in that. But the Moogen is still a boat load of fun =)

Unfortunately no, no engine pics. If they show up for any of the next events I can try and snag some.
