Battery relay fuse keeps blowing every time I connect the negative battery cable

I recently got my old 91 civic hatchback from my ex wife, and has been inoperable for a while. I went ahead and removed the old fuel, replaced the fuel filter, new battery and starter, but every I time I go to connect the negative battery cable the main battery relay fuse pops. I have no idea where to go from here and any help would be greatly appreciated as I am no mechanic.

I took it off this afternoon and it didn't blow this time. Still not turning over though

The cable itself looked fine, but I'll check on the codes later today

I did have the alternator rebuilt several years ago. Could there be a possible internal short?
