Can you see what's wrong with this camshaft?

Not from a Civic, but still interesting to see ...





The camshaft is off a Lycoming O-360 carburated aicraft engine at 2000 hours overhaul. It was removed and inspected as part of the overhaul process. This kind of damage is not unusual for this kind of engine time (2000 hrs).

Here's the new engine to be swapped in:

lol it had a little lobe wear down huh...the new one has alot larger tips, and alittle more rounded as well....yeah lol i have a engine that looks like that on my sand rail...

ZOIKS... thats cool lookin... i wiped a lobe on the cam in my truck.. sooo i junked it

was a valve stuck open on the lobe??? or did just wear down for no reason=)

Over time the cam lobes tend to wear down because for one reason or another the hardness on the surface wears away. Camshafts are case hardened on the lobes to resist wear like that.

I know the the problem! It has no VTEC lobes! :mrgreen:
