Civic B16 Overheating..

Was driving to work when I see white smoke coming out under the hood. Temperature needle shoot all the way up to F.what could cause this? Never had this problem in the past so dont really know what cause it.About time to change new Oil could that be the case?any help would be appreciated. =)

Blown head gasket, hole in your radiator or radiator hose. If you have smoke, i'd say your leaking your coolant out of somewhere. Check your coolant level, and check your oil and see if it's milky. If so probably your head gasket.

nope replace thermostat , car run like a champ now!

that doesnt explain where the steam "smoke" came from...? the coolant had to leak out of somewhere.....
