Drove through a small river.....rattles!

I only thought it was a few inches of rain but it turned out to be like 2ft of water. I think the heat shield that goes above the muffler and the one above the cat is loose and bent. Can these be safely removed with doing any damage to my car.

It is starting to get really annoying.

I'm sure that you could remove them. Jack up the car and see what you can find.

I have jacked up the car and looked and yes they can be removed.

I'm asking if it is safe to remove. I had the heat shield off of my headers for 2 weeks and had no problems.

the heat shield is there to protect the interior cabin. it is kept there to keep the heat out.

*random fact, exhaust systems can reach up to 2500 degrees fariegnheight!

I don't see how that flimsy piece of metal can provide enough protection against 2500f.

I guess I'll have to try and bend it or somthing.

We got over 1.5" of rain in 15 minutes that night. It was crazy.

I traded in my Honda today and bought a Cobalt SS.

I've went to the dark side. The "American" side.

I love my Cobalt.

The brand new SS has a new turbo and pumps out 260 hp stock. It looks like it might actually be worth buying now.

what? sorry that didnt make sense to me for some reason.. :what:
Before the new models...

SS = n/a
SS Supercharged = supercharged

Although now it looks like they've done away with the n/a SS coupes/sedans along with the s/c'd SS coupes and stuck with only SS-t coupes...thought that wasn't happening for another year.
