Engine choices

I have a 1999 Honda Civic dx hatchback and was wondering if anyone has knowledge on which engine I should swap into her. I was given information from my own sources that a d16y8 would be a good choice but didn’t get much more explanation as to the range price, engine mounts etc. can anyone give me some help?

I have a budget of around 5g right now currently recovering from school bills, and financial Issues. But I’m just looking for a step up upgrade because the engine i currently have has been through a lot and has 230,000 miles On it.and I don’t have much knowledge on engines or engine swapping at all. I’ve done my own research but in terms of hands on activity I have no experienc besides the basics. Tire change, spar plugs,oil change you know all the simple things.
