It's not a gay disease and it's not a I/V drug user disease. It's a human disease. It affects all kinds of people. It is very unlikely that you were exposed by a fingernail scratch.
I've had lot's of contact with people that had t-cell counts less than 300 and I have never feared contracting the disease. I'm not sharing needles or having sex with them so why would i worry? In fact I am a bigger threat to their health than they are to mine.
