how do i know if my actuator is not working?

If you can use the key to lock it, but not your fob, chances are it's the actuator.

I actually replaced my driver side actuator in my RSX over the weekend. When I pulled the bad one out, you could hear something rattling in there when I shook it. The new one of course did not have that issue.

ok well hopefully tomorrow, i will remove the door panel and see if i can hear any movement, can you tell me more precisely where it is though because i have took the panel off and i haven't seen that, unless i just don't have one on.

Well it may still be faulty without making a noise. It just happened that mine did. Also, I've never taken apart a door on a Civic; I did on my RSX so I'm sure it's a little different.
