Wanted to do a rear drum to disc brake so I might as well get the front also. I was wondering which ones will work better with a DX without problems. I figured the 00 SI would work best since its the same chasis and all. But it has ABS on it, will anything bad happend if I go to slam on the brake and the ABS tries to engage? Some say that the ABS needs another unit to function so when I brake the ABS just wont kick in. Also, would my old calipers and pads work with the new disc brakes?

All that said and done, anyone know where I can get this done at parts and labor and all. Everything including Master Brake Cylinder,40/40 proportioning valve, front knuckles, bleeding the brake lines, steel brake lines, and parking brake cable.

Project Zero.....how much can your shop do this for? :D

I Would Just Replace The Whole unit With DISC TO DISC Breaks from A 1998 Integra RS. it would be a better flowing conversion since it does not come with ABS. And since your car did not come equipped with it it would be a easier conversion. But the GSR or SI conversion would work, but to be safe and have a legit conversion i would add the ABS. the rs break conversion will run you 450 with everything at my frinds honda specialist in corona =) . direct bolt on. If you have any more Questions PM me and ill help you out.

i would say don't get the abs... your car isn't heavy enough to warrant such a system. as for which system to go with, get the si system so it bolts right up.... old calipers and pads should work just fine, but you might as well upgrade to hawk pads and really stop in a hurry.

it doesnt matter if u get ls, rs, or gs...abs or no abs...abs is a totally different system. u can get any brake system even if its from a car with abs.

u.s. si's do not have abs.

get si rear discs, they will bolt up - you'll need complete trailing arm, ebrake cable, rear disc lines.

get ex or si front discs, they are the exact same.

you're on your own as far as m/c, boost, prop valve, etc. get all si stuff is what i hear.

if you're not tracking/autoxing, just get a fastbrakes upgrade kit for the front, especially if you have 16+ rims. rear discs are heavier than rear drum anyhow.

goodluck.

2000 Si Disc to ABS conversion?

Project Zero,

is there a way to convert the 4 wheel disc system on 2000 Civic Si to ABS? Appreciate any tips on this. If I do get into this then I would be purchasing parts and having a certified shop do the work here in Florida.

Thanks
