Deleted those posts, that sh*t isn't necessary. I second what Joe says. We shouldn't have to say this multiple times, especially to some of our older members who have been here for a while. It's 100% perfectly acceptable to disagree, debate, and dispute your difference of opinion in threads like these. Personal attacks aren't tolerated though, it's completely unnecessary. Next time, this thread will get locked and infractions handed out.

In my defense, I only came on here today to contribute to the actual discussion.

Good, then please continue to do that.
I'm sorry but if someone takes a shot at me I'm going to answer back... infractions or not. But I'm done toying with this Ronald guy, so no need to worry.

Right, but I'm not praising this guy or any of the CEOs of any multinational corporations that ship our jobs overseas to little kids in sweet shops. I wasn't the one worshiping this dude.

Steve was not rude or spiteful. Lets be honest. Most modern employees in any company show up to work to just get money. Steve didn't put up with this. If you didn't show passion and initiative then he would let you know that you needed to work hard. It's tough love and I think it's a great way to motivate people. If you walked up to steve on the main campus he would challenge you to help him improve the company. He would listen to what you say and if you were right then he would tell you you were right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF-tKLISfPE&feature=related if you were not right he would also tell you that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM-DWAoVoR0&feature=related

Oh Greg

You post a video from 1997, this is such a critical time for him. He was just reinstated as CEO, Apple is on the verge of bankruptcy, of course he's going to be as nice as he is.

Then you post a 21 second video of him saying: We've gotten cards and letters from tons of people saying that iTunes is their favorite app on Windows.

Oh man, that's a real burn. 'Hey! Some of your customers like a single product of ours better than yours!'

Being a successful business man doesn't equate to being worthy of praise or respect in my book. Therefore, to try and argue that the man is deserving of either using his portfolio of "accomplishments" just doesn't appeal to me. He didn't challenge society, he didn't incite a conscious awakening or bring about a movement towards any real progress...

If you guys really didn't care about Apple and Steve as you're making it seem, you would of unsubscribed along time ago. Now show us all that you really actually do care about Apple by showing any sign or response from here down.

So somebody like Henry Ford doesn't deserve praise or respect either? He was a successful business man but the reason his legacy is what it is, is the improvements he made in communication.

No. His legacy is the manufacturing advancements and the fact that he made the automobile affordable to everyday people.

You can't compare Henry Ford to Steve Jobs. Henry Ford is on a much higher list than Steve Jobs.

This. I simply do NOT see the connection between inventing cool electronics, and being a "great American".

And this. Henry Ford not only made the automobile affordable for the average Joe, he revolutionized the way things are produced.

Steve Jobs revolutionized the both the printing and advertising industries by bringing digital type to the computer.

You aren't getting my point. It's simple.

Whatever scale you happen to use to weigh a man's worth isn't necessarily correct... even if it's well accepted in mainstream culture. I don't value someone for their success within the capitalist system. Measuring a person on the basis of how much wealth they were able to generate, or how good they were at selling something (even if that something was "useful", "innovative" or even revolutionary) doesn't work for me.

I'm not even saying that any of you are wrong, or right... I'm arguing with the idea that was charged several pages ago, that just because someone doesn't agree that he was "great", they are wrong. f*** that. Who are any of you to say what makes a man great? He could have been the worst person ever to walk the face of the earth... none of you knew him. Yet so many are willing to fight and defend something they believe based merely upon his capitalist legacy. What if it surfaces tomorrow that he was a snuff film-watching, child porn enthusiast, that molested little girls and paid off their families?

EDIT: I was talking about Steve Jobs, not Henry Ford^ haha.
