i just wanted to know how necessary hood pins are with CF hoods.

i was talking to my friend who works at an import shop, and he has one on his civic, and he says he feels that just using the existing hood lock is fine.

any thoughts?

I think using hoodpins is a must when using an aftermarket hood. They are cheap insurance. I would rather have spent the $20 on hood pins than the possible $1000+ on body work and paint when it comes flying off as you're driving down the road.

I agree, I have a VIS hood which are pretty sturdy and my corners started pulling up when i was only going 60 mph.
I'd rather be safe then sorry:thumbs up

Make sure they're locks, and not just pins. An extra layer of security never hurt anyone ... except the thief.

depends on the hood as well IMO

i have the VIS CF vented hood... my hood never rattles, comes up, etc.. etc..

my only reasoning for gettin hood locks (yeah, LOCKS) would be so you cant get uner the hood...

but with OEM style hoods, yeah hood locks/pins are pertty much helpful
