what swap for '90 DX

I have a 1990 Honda DX Sedan 1.5 L
It has 275K miles on it. Still runs well, but lots of wear everywhere.
If I wanted a little more power, am I stuck with that engine for swapping?
If not, what would fit directly, with no creative changes elsewhere?

Also, how can I be sure that even swapping straight across, that the other
engine is in decent condition, and / or how many miles are on it?

Is that too old to get one from Japan, at 100K miles?

If you've done any research then please state your findings. If not, begin researching because there is alot of information on already accomplished engine swaps for your Civic. If your current engine is still running well but you want some added performance, I would suggest going straight for a b18 swap with an OBD1 conversion as it will be relatively straight forward, to my understanding, and cost effective. Otherwise, a D16y8 swap will be cheaper and easier. Either way, you can find full engine swap kits sold. Research is vital no matter what choice you make so start s now.

Oh, and I hope yours is a manual.

Stick with another d series motor. Stay away from the old Integra d16a1's and 01-05 d17a's those will not simply and directly fit into your car, more hassle than it's worth.
How much more power and how much $ do you have to play with, budget and power goals will dictate the direction you go in.

Relevant motor swap info, good informative read.

Unless you know the previous owner of the motor and know the history of it, you don't really know for sure the mileage or condition of a used motor.
